Friday Weigh-In: Yes!

dsc0329512211111111111211111111Well, the results are in and over the last three weeks I have lost  . . . drumroll please . . . 4.2 pounds!!! Good-bye 150s, hello 140s!! My current weight is 148.2 pounds. (Note: I cannot handle even simple math problems early in the morning. My weight three weeks ago was 152.4, and my current weight it 147.2, a loss of 4.2, not 5.2 pounds. Still impressive, but not as much as the original calculation I put up this morning.

It’s almost hard for me to believe that I lost weight over our vacation, but apparently something kicked in and the pounds started coming off again. We all ate well while we were in Hawaii, lots of yummy fresh fruit, grilled fish, and local vegetables, but we also enjoyed several local snacks like water-roasted macadamia nuts (unbelievable), locally-made granola (wonderful), and other goodies. My favorite snack was a frostie: frozen bananas, or bananas and papaya, pushed through a juicer; it was like eating ice cream except that it was pure fruit. I want to go back just for those alone!

I’m also getting plenty of exercise these days. I’m walking 90 minutes every day, with weights, and believe that’s finally making a difference as well.

I’m going to continue to stick with the Weight Watchers eating plan, but next week will be my last meeting for a while. I will be following the plan online only for a few months in order to put more income toward debt repayment. Also, I’ve also given up my evening glass of wine for the time being, except for Friday and Saturday evenings. It was a ritual I enjoyed, but I’ll both save points and money by only indulging twice a week.

Here’s to reaching my goal weight in 2013!

  1. Wow – that is an extremely impressive number. Especially while on vacation! Sometimes I find that a change of routine makes a big difference when I’ve hit a plateau. Obviously, somehting worked for you!!

  2. Congratulations!!! You know, I’ve had the exact same experience both in terms of adding weights to my exercise routine and upping the fruits and veggies in my diet. It was like I was trying and trying and trying but the scale wouldn’t budge, but as soon as I built up a bit of muscle mass and switched to a diet that was heavy in the fruits and veggies department, it all just started disappearing. I’m sooo happy for you!

    That’s brilliant Laura! Well done!

I’m adding weights to my walking from now on….hopefully it’ll work for me!

  4. Well done! (I had written a longer reply but wordpress always makes it very difficult to leave comments and it seems to have been eaten).

I’m in a similar position to you regarding work. What has changed to make it worth it this term?

  6. Kristin makes a very similar dessert to the frostie you’re talking about – but she calls hers frozen banana custard. It might remind you of Hawaii :)

    Great!

  8. Fantastic job!! I take this as a sign you belong in Hawaii!! ;)

  9. Woohoo! This was a great update! Those banana frostie things sound great. Any chance of replicating those at home (and then sharing the recipe)?
